Am I right in thinking that the use of this
over-rides the directory-list TEXINPUTS, etc?
That is, if one does "ls -R /usr/local/lib/texmf > ls-R"
then all the files below this directory
become eligible as tex input files?
Incidentally, on my machine (Mips) one has to give
the full directory name (as above)
since kpathsea only considers something to be a directory
if its name begins with "/".
That is, "ls -R > ls-R" does not construct a valid listing.
